Nintendo Shrugs Off GTA 6 Switch 2 Rumors, Placing Complete Ball in Rockstar’s Court

As anticipation mounts for the blockbuster release of Grand Theft Auto VI, Nintendo is officially declining to rule out a future port—while making it clear the choice belongs entirely to developer Rockstar Games.

With the countdown to GTA 6‘s November console launch ticking away, speculation has continuously swirled over whether Nintendo’s next-generation hardware could eventually see a version of Vice City.

Addressing the rumors head-on during a recent interview, Nintendo of America President Devon Pritchard chose to deflect queries regarding a potential hybrid platform release. Rather than issuing a flat denial, Pritchard noted that any conversation about bringing the massive open-world title to the system is “a matter between Take-Two and Rockstar,” adding that she had “nothing to announce on that front at this time”.

While the guarded response stops well short of a confirmation, it has immediately reignited debate across the gaming community. Industry watchers point out that while the Switch 2 represents a major leap in portable hardware capability, running a monumental title like GTA 6 would still require significant optimization and heavy technical compromises. For now, Sony and Microsoft systems remain the exclusive home for the game’s initial debut, leaving Nintendo fans waiting to see if Rockstar will ever bridge the gap.
